Howdy! Join APC and all our wonderful organizations in celebrating Asian Pacific Islander Desi American culture this April with all the great events we have planned!
Asian Pacific Islander Desi American is the more inclusive term to describe the Asian American community that's comprised of individuals of East Asian, South Asian, Southeast Asian, West Asian, Central Asian and Pacific Island backgrounds who represent over forty countries and hundreds of languages.
APIDA Heritage Month is a month long celebration (held in April at Texas A&M) to recognize and pay tribute to the contributions generations of APIDAs have made to American history, society, and culture. Our APIDA month is in April even though May is suppose to be APIDA month because the school semester does not extend over all of May. The importance of May is that it commemorates the immigration of the first Japanese to the United States on May 7, 1843, and to mark the anniversary of the completion of the transcontinental railroad on May 10, 1869. For more information, visit http://asianpacificheritage.gov/about.html
The APIDA culture is an integral part of our community and us as individuals. Please join us to celebrate and pay tribute to the contributions generations of Asian/Pacific Americans have made to American history, society and culture!
On April 2nd at 6:30 pm to 9 pm in the Gates Ballroom at the MSC 2400, we will start off strong with the AHM KICK-OFF featuring awesome performances and FREE food!
